INDIAN RUPEE review

last few years renjith has shocked people far and wide with his stories and i should say indian rupee have the same tale to tell. The movie adds another feather to the writer turned director.

Indian rupee scripted and directed by renjith has prithviraj in the lead. he portrays the character of a common man whom most of us have seen in day to day life.Jayaprakash called JP (prithviraj) is a real estate broker based in kozikode, he wants to be a millionaire as everyone dreams to be. JP and CH( tini tom) works under mammu koya, who rules the real estate bussiness in kozikode. Its not too late when JP and CH realises that unless they grow out of the shades of riyaken (mammukoya) they cant earn anything useful.
JP's lady love dr beena (reema kallingal) wants him to succeed at any cost for their love to be accepted by her family. She opens the door to his dream by getting him an offer to sell a large estate, which happens to be her proffessors. JP grabs on it but apparently gets stuck with the deal. Enter mystery man Achutha menon(thilakan) who gives thema grand planwhich would change their lives forever. Jp decides to execute the plan and grab the money. The movie slow to unfold till here takes a U-turn from here  within no time zooms ahead, The details are downright gripping, the asides sparkling and the setups almost surreal, so much so that it hops straight into the year's must-see movies list and scrambles right up to the top. It is a kind of movie were you do not have fights and a villain to create tension and hold you on to the seat. But its when the film itself transforms into a dots and crosses game, where the slate is scrubbed over and over again, that the excitement sets in.
thilakan have made a splendid come back, the mystery surrounding his character was so beautifully portrayed and brilliantly unveiled as the movie progresses.he motto of the film, money, goes round and round in circles as though we are in a small world, we know that that's the truth though, and keep money out of the picture, it means that what goes around, comes around.
At last our young superstar has something to boast about. he deserves a pat on his back for the performance he has put. Though one could see that he has tried to put him in the shoes of lal ettan. Easily one of the best performances ever in his career. It would have been great to see lal ettan doing this role some ten years back.
the songs are amazing so is the camera works

ndian Rupee is a brightly scripted and constructed film that keeps you guessing till the very end. It is a passionate and provocative film, in which almost everything associated with it is first-rate.

blessy's PRANAYAM review

blessy films surely are special, the fact that they are so close to reality and the human relationships his films portrays is so pure and adorable.  You have to give him full marks for the way in which he selects the characters and defy the usual stereotype method of telling the story, surely he will write his name along side the greats of malayalam cinema. While watching pranayam you should not be amazed if you are drawn back to the era of padmarajan and bharathan ; so beautifully essayed film.

PRANAYAM the 6th film by blessy easily matches his previous endeavours and most importantly stand apart with a completely different and fresh subject. The movie is produced by annie sajeev.

The movie starts of with achutha menon(anupam kher) who had withstood a cardiac arrest spending his days with his son's wife and daughter. Anup menon plays the role of his busy son suresh who is working in dubai, both are so closely attached since achutha menon was the one responsible to make him reach his height since his wife grace(jayaprada) divorced him 2 yrs after their marriage. The story unfolds when achutha menon see his wife after 40 years in the same apartment which leads to his second cardiac arrest. Grace lives in the same apartment with his second husband mathews: who is partly paralyzed and confined to a wheel chair  (mohanlal) and her daughter. The couples share a good relation both loving each other, but seeing her ex husband make the three of them walk down their memory lane and here blossoms one of the rarest relationship ever been told.
The story then flows like a poem with no rush in unfolding each of the three characters and slowly u  get engulfed in love with them. The story is so sensitive but blessy's deft touch have worked magic here in portraying one of the untold relationship between a man and woman.

The casting hass been so brilliant, each roles has been tailor made for them, of course anupam kher, jayaprada and mohanlal have delivered their best performances. The dialogues has been crafted with brilliance, which pulls you into the plot. mohanlal and anupam kher comes up with emotionally precise performances but truly the star is jayaprada who lives and leads the central role to perfection.

It wouldn't be done if one did not say abt the technical side of pranayam, satheesh kurup have supplemented blessy by creating a beautiful set of poetic frames which aptly matches the narrative, the editing by raj muhammad is top notch which shows one of the best cut emotions of actors, music by m.jayachandran is a killer at some parts.

GET VISUALLY ENGULFED IN LOVE

Salt and pepper reviewSalt and pepper review

Salt and pepper directed ashiq abu is a refreshing movie:-) if you have become bored of the masala slapstick comedy entertainers this movie will be quiet a refreshing change for you:-) well before i start saying about the movie i should brief about how 2011 is shaping up for our little Mollywood:-) almost finishing the 8 month of the year we have had 3 different hits this year(starting with traffic, urumi and salt and pepper)interestingly all this movie had been delivered by the youth which is indeed a good sign:-) one of the other movie which impressed me this year was city of god which went unnoticed... coming to salt and pepper directed by ashiq abu its a story that revolves around some gorgeous eaters, foodies i mean:-) lal and shweta menon plays the lead while asif ali and mythili gives a splendid performance in support for them:-)but the person who really steals the show is Baburaj who in his new look and the role of a cook just steals the heart of the audiences:-) his first meeting with lal is a scene which is going to be etched in the mind forever:-)the humour ha's set a bench mark for these days movies how to use and when to use scripted by dilesh nair the movie revolves around shweta's desire to eat a dosa which makes her to hit on lal through phone accidently lal being a foodie get close with her and their complexities in being in love unfolds the rest of the story:-) music by bijibal is refreshing:-) asif ali have given his best still there is a long way forward to him his actions at times were so artificial... personally i was a little dispassionated but no offences to the movie Abu's first movie had so many refreshing frames in songs but i couldn't find it in this film.... any way the whole team ought to be given a huge thums up..... my rating 7.5/10

seniors review

Seniors directed by vyshak is yet another fairy tale story setting college life as background:-):-) one should say the film is largely influenced from the movie classmates with almost a similar plot though it is wrapped in new colours and comedies which promises to make you glued to the screen.vysak had a huge expectation to meet after the runaway success of his debut film pokkiriraja, he had to prove that his effort was not be called as a one movie wonder.seniors ha's been scripted by sachi-sethu whose last film doubles crashed at the box office. The first and best thing which stands out in the movie is its casting itself. casting biju menon, kunchako, manoj k jayan and jayaram as college going students will itself ignite the laughter:-):-) when one come to see vijaya ragavan as the principal and suraj as the lab in charge it would be like adding spice to the already spicy dish:-) but everybody jells in perfectly.the story revolves around the 4 classmates who had finished their college lives and settled looking after each of their respective family apart from jayaram who has been in jail for 12 years convicted on a murder charge.on returning back from jail he forces the other three to join the college to pursue higher studies.infact he convinces them to join the same college from where they passed out 12 years ago. the person convicted for murdering his junior and his friends returning to the college forms the rest of the plot.the usual parallel love story of a couple going unseen will be unveiled as in classmates which wil unfold the suspense of this movie too.:-)the movie is a Racy entertainer and you want know the time running out.vijayaragavan reminds you of booman irani in 3 idiots but he really gives something to laugh about.but in the end one should say an old wine served in new bottle.

city of god review

city of god directed by lijo jose pellissery promises you a lot and does impresses you here and there.the film portrays story for quiet a lot of characters and its beautifully knitted to form one good story. though the prithviraj fans wil argue that he plays the lead.but there are some amazing onscreen and offscreen performances which makes this movie a collective effort rather than a one man show.lijo' has been successfull in maintaining the mood of the film throughout. the hand held camera throughout draws some serious appreciation.the lighting of the movie has been brilliantly set to give you the feel and emotions of the story the director is trying to say.He tries so hard to bring realism into movie, and one should say he is successful for most part of the story.indraji+h,parvathy and rohini as tamil workers earning there livelihood in the movie has done a great performance.reema myt have grown more beautiful but she needs to grow as an actor.the most outstanding thing in the movie is te script itself. how +he story Has been told is what holds on u to the seat.editing is brilliant and has done justice to the story.the movie stand a class apart in what we have seen of the usual Malayalam underworld movies.seriously lijo deserves a bow for his work.people have been searching for variety and for all those this film should serve as an answer:-)
